Microsoft Exchange Migration
At the end of June 2004, Microsoft ended support for Exchange 5.5 and
NT v4. If you are currently running Exchange 5.5 then the natural option
may be to upgrade to Exchange 2003 but that route is costly and painful.
First of all you may need new hardware, Exchange 2003 requires more power
and you will need Windows 2000 or 2003 operating system. Secondly, you
will need to install Active Directory, which is a major implementation
project plus you will then have the problem of ongoing maintenance. Thirdly,
you will be locked into expensive, ongoing licence payments. Not forgetting
of course, that Exchange is the primary target for virus writers!
The alternative is to use Syan’s exchange2domino
service to convert to a Lotus Domino solution saving you from both the
cost and the pain. An example of this is the conversion that Syan completed
for Anglo Beef Processors whose 5 year Total Cost of Ownership study showed
that the Domino solution will reduce their costs by over 60%.
