DTM for iSeries
DTM for iSeries is a native iSeries Data/Text Merge solution, using the
reliable and scalable iSeries platform for performing Data/Text Merge
operations.
Data/Text Merge is the process of merging database information into text
documents in order to generate mailings or custom made letters and reports.
Shell (input) documents contain static text, lay-out information and programming
instructions to retrieve data from different data sources.
DTM for iSeries is an effective replacement for the Data/Text Merge functionality
of the recently withdrawn IBM OfficeVison/400. DTM for iSeries replaces
and surpasses the Data/Text merge capabilities of OfficeVision/400
Because of the flexibility of the XML architecture of DTM for iSeries,
a wide range of output formats is available when printing or exporting
documents. Exported documents allow easy integration into other applications.
Several optional features and toolkits are available, such as an OV/400
Transition Feature (for easy migration from OfficeVision/400), a 5250
User Interface (for editing documents from a green screen) and an MS Word
User Interface (for editing documents using MS Word).
