PKZIP
PKZIP
provides a data compression solution that is very easy to use and deploy.
The industry-leading compression engine reduces file sizes by up to 95
percent. On desktop systems, users can efficiently store files or send
compressed email attachments with seamless integration with Microsoft
Outlook and Lotus Notes . In the data centre, PKZIP streamlines
batch processing, regular report processing and data transfer between
systems with solutions for mainframe, midrange and Windows/Linux/UNIX
servers.
PKZIP for iSeries
PKZIP for iSeries is designed specifically for OS/400, providing a cross-platform,
compatible data compression solution that supports PF-DTA, PF-SRC, and
SAVF in the QSYS file system; IFS and SAVF stream files, as well as spool
files. PKZIP for iSeries is written with assembler code that reduces bandwidth
consumption and file size by as much as 95 percent.
- Cross-platform compatibility
- Automatically converts data from EBCDIC to ASCII
- Converts SPOOL file to PDF and other formats
- Recovery of DASD space
PKZIP Server
PKZIP Server was specifically created for data centre environments. It
compresses files of virtually unlimited size and provides out-of-the-box
integration with common processes such as FTP and SMTP file transfer.
PKZIP Server also supports event reporting through standard SYSLOG/Event
Log and SNMP traps.
PKZIP Server achieves compression ratios of up to 95 percent, as much
as 20 percent better than other commonly used methods. Files can be transferred
quickly and easily directly to desktop systems with PKZIP's SMTP integration.
It also supports the creation of self-extracting files so compressed archives
sent from Windows/Linux/ UNIX Servers will automatically decompress files
onto desktops, making the process completely transparent for desktop users.
Because businesses often exchange high-value or sensitive information
online, PKZIP Server offers password-based encryption that protects data
in transit and in storage.
PKZIP can be configured to automatically run server anti-virus software
to scan files before they are decompressed during unattended processing.
